A private members club in London’s Soho has gone bust, leaving the future of its premises in doubt.
The House of St Barnabas on Soho Square, W1, was not just one of the coolest clubs in London, with founder members including Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and actors Brian Cox and Perter Capaldi, but one of the worthiest, too. The club channelled profits to funding a homelessness charity.
The club has now closed and is in the process of winding up after failing to reverse losses. The club’s accounts, filed last week, record a loss of £229,950 compared with a profit of £105,119 for the previous year.
An announcement said the building and chapel at 1 Greek Street “will continue to be held in trust for charitable purposes”.
