Solihull Council has launched a hunt for a partner to redevelop its council and civic buildings, as part of a major town centre regeneration.
The Eastgate site spans 5.66 acres on the corner of Homer Road and Church Hill Road, adjacent to the High Street and in the centre of the retail core.
The council is seeking a development and investment partner for the regeneration to deliver new homes, business space, public square and civic accommodation, alongside new cultural and arts offerings. It will work with the private sector to develop a masterplan for the site.
The scheme follows the council-led development of Westgate at the opposite end of Homer Road, with more than 100,000 sq ft of office and further flexible co-working space.
The two projects form part of the council’s UK Central Solihull programme and 20-year regeneration of the town centre.
Solihull council leader Ian Courts said: “The council is determined to support our retail and commercial centres by being an active partner in their future.
“This is more important than ever in the current climate, as all sectors plan their reset and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.”
