Somerset council seeks aid from High Court to re-house tunnelling badgers

About 20 homes – some council owned – are at risk in St Andrew’s Road, Yeovil, Somerset, because of tunnelling badgers.

The High Court granted South Somerset District Council permission to make an urgent application for a judicial review against a Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food’s refusal to grant a licence for rehousing the badgers, near Dulverton, beside Exmoor.

The option of destroying the badgers was said to be unacceptable to the council and to residents.
