Sony to replace riot-hit Enfield depot

Sony DADC has announced plans for a 258,336 sq ft distribution centre in Enfield, north London, to replace the one destroyed by fire during last year’s riots.

The entertainment giant will construct the centre on the same Solar Way site.

The property will be 2m higher than its predecessor and it will contain three office floors, one more than before.

Sony said it “will employ an enhanced security concept, which will make a repeat of events from last summer virtually impossible”.

Completion of the building is expected later this year. The company has been sharing premises with drinks logistics firm Cert Octavian since its home was destroyed.
