Southall Gasworks plan approved

approval-stamp-generic-THUMB.jpegBerkeley Group’s masterplan for the former Southall Gasworks site in west London has been approved by Ealing Council.

A total of 3,750 homes are planned on the 88-acre Southhall Waterside site. Also part of the masterplan are 500,000 sq ft of commercial space, a primary school and health centre.

Half the site will be kept as open space.

Work is expected to start on site in early 2016. The scheme will be delivered in a number of phases over a 25- year period.

Sean Ellis, executive director at Berkeley Group, said: “The Southall Waterside masterplan, the largest regeneration scheme in West London, creates a diverse residential and commercial offer for Southall.”

Following the approval of the revised masterplan, Berkeley is preparing a detailed planning application for phase A of the development, which will include 618 homes and be submitted shortly.

Subject to necessary approvals, first completions for phase A are expected in mid-2018.
