Southern Grove received planning approval to develop 220 homes in the Kent village of Seasalter, near Whitstable, in a Canterbury City Council planning meeting yesterday.
The homes will be a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, 30% of which will be affordable as well as 10 self/custom build houses.
The 40-acre site currently comprises of paddocks and grazing land, various unmade access tracks, equestrian facilities, areas of hardstanding, storage units, and a neglected building to the north which will be removed to allow a new road to run along the site boundary.
Over 50% of the site is dedicated to public open space and biodiversity, including wetland rewilding, nature trails, and a village green.
The site will achieve onsite net-zero carbon housing with measures including PV panels, heat pumps, and EV charging capacity for all homes.
