Southern rail strikes hitting house prices

Strikes on Southern rail are having a detrimental effect on house prices in the area, with house price growth slowed by two-thirds overall, research by Zoopla shows.

The town of Lewes in East Sussex has been worst hit, with a 15.95% slowdown. In Wallington, in Sutton, the figure was 15.7%.

Properties are also taking longer than average to sell. In Tonbridge, Kent, homes are taking 62 days to go under offer, compared with a southeast regional average of 46.
