A flexible workspace provider for charities and social sector organisations has been given the green light to rebuild its office at Waterbridge House, SE1.
Canopi plans to demolish the existing four-storey office block and build a 17,319 sq ft eight-storey office building and café.
Planning documents lodged with Southwark Council said: “The existing premises was built in the 1930s and provide inefficient and compromised workspace that no longer meets the operational requirements of modern office occupiers. It has also been discovered that the building is structurally unsound due to the use of low-strength concrete.”
The Helen Taylor Thompson Foundation, which is operating under the name of Canopi, is a charity-based social enterprise that works with charities, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations.
Construction is expected to start in autumn and the site is due to be completed by 2025.
