Sovereign Centros expands with asset manager hires

Shopping centre asset and development manager Sovereign Centros has made four appointments, with hires from Hammerson, CBRE and Ellandi.

Mike Egerton (pictured) has joined as a senior asset manager to work across a variety of projects. He previously worked at Hammerson in its restaurant and leisure team, advising on the company’s key assets.

CBRE associate director Mark Stapleton has also joined the business, as an asset manager. At CBRE, he managed retail and mixed-use assets.

Client management accountant Lesya Horchyn comes to Sovereign Centros from Ellandi, with responsibility for the day-to-day accounting management.

The hires come after Sovereign Centros recruited Merry Hill asset manager Alistair Winning from Ellandi earlier this year, as the firm took over Ellandi’s asset management mandate at the location. Winning’s experience also includes six years as asset manager at now-collapsed shopping centre landlord intu.

Chris Geaves, chief executive of Sovereign Centros, said: “This is a very active and interesting time in the retail marketplace for us, where our investor partners and lenders require carefully thought-out strategies to navigate business plans to best effect.

“These new additions strengthen our team to ensure that we continue to provide best-in-class support and advice.”

Sovereign Centros manages more than 12m sq ft of prime shopping centre and out of town retail space. Its portfolio includes the Metrocentre in Gateshead.
