Sovereign gets green-light for £20m Cardiff Bay retail and leisure scheme

Sovereign Land has got the go-ahead for Mermaid Quay, its £20m retail and leisure scheme at Cardiff Bay.

The developer secured planning permission for its 7,432 sq m (80,000 sq ft) proposals which will feature retail outlets and up to three stand-alone licensed leisure units.

Brewer SA Brain has been tipped as the first operator in the scheme which will be built on the Oval Basin in the Bay’s inner harbour.

Sovereign said it hopes to start work later this year and construction should take 12 months. Schroder is funding the scheme.

Healey & Baker and Philip Hughes Davies are letting agents.
