Sovereign wins £200m Telford green light

Sovereign Land has won consent for its £200m proposal to almost double in size the 1m sq ft Telford shopping centre in Shropshire.

Sovereign submitted the outline proposals in August.

They include adding 400,000 sq ft of shops, alongside 250,000 sq ft of restaurants, bars, cafés, a cinema and a hotel as part of a leisure complex in Central Square.

Work on the five-year project is now hoped to begin next spring and forms part of the £450m redevelopment of Telford, including the £250m Southwater scheme being built by Telford and Wrekin council and leisure developer Citigrove.
