Two Spanish hotel groups are tipped to win the race to acquire the boutique hotel chain Malmaison.
Sol Melia and NH Hoteles are heading up a shortlist of six interested parties looking to buy the chain, estimated to be worth £90m.
Malmaison’s operations director Beverley Payne, said: “The management team is in Leeds, where we’re holding a series of presentations to prospective purchasers.”
Payne would not comment on the speculation, but said Malmaison expected the sale to complete within the next two to three weeks.
Malmaison has operations in Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Edinburgh. One is under development in Birmingham, at the Mailbox development, and a site has been secured in the London Bridge/Tower Bridge area.
