Scottish and Southern Electric has launched a requirement for 150,000 sq ft of office space between the M3 and M4 motorways.
The Perth-headquartered firm is looking to consolidate its offices in the South East as it expands the Southern Energy arm of the business.
SSE Energy Supply, Southern Electric Gas and SSE Water occupy space at 55 Vastern Road in Reading, Berkshire, alongside Abernedd Power and Forewind.
The utility company has other offices spread across the Thames Valley.
The firm is already in discussions with various landlords for space in the Reading area.
A spokesman said: “SSE is constantly looking at market options that might enhance its property portfolio, subject to the particular business needs of the company at a given time.
“While we would not comment on an individual site, Reading falls into an area of interest under current consideration.”
SSE is the second largest supplier of electricity and natural gas in the UK, and is the largest generator of renewable energy in the country.
