St Albans has become the UKs leading property hotspot after values in the Hertfordshire town rose higher even than London.
According to Nationawide, the average house price in St Albans has risen by 24% over the year to reach £494,777, while prices in the capital rose by an average of 17.8% to reach £406,730.
Reading also saw far higher than average rises of 19% over the year.
But other towns and cities had a less positive year. Manchester saw zero growth, while Cardiff’s values grew by just 4%.
