St Ives housing market slows after vote

Estate agents are reporting a drop in enquiries for homes in St. Ives, in Cornwall, following a vote there earlier this year to introduce restrictions on the ownership of second homes.

Enquiries have fallen about 10% recently, according to Jeremy Miller of Miller & Son.

The town’s mayor, Linda Taylor, noted some confusion about the policy, but said it only affected newly built homes and that all others could be purchased as normal.
