St James plans over 2,000 new homes for White City Living site

St James has submitted plans to Hammersmith and Fulham Council for 550 new homes next to their White City Living scheme, W12, which will push both schemes over 2,000 units when combined.

The sites lie to the north of Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush. The White City Living scheme lies on a former Marks & Spencer warehouse site, and was originally consented in 2015 for 1,465 homes.

Commenting on the updated plans Sean Ellis, Chairman of St James, said: “We can confirm St James has exchanged conditional contracts with Imperial College London regarding the acquisition of 1.4 additional acres of land, neighbouring our 10 acre White City Living site.”

“This will support our efforts to create a fantastic new community for London in White City, building on the masterplan consented in December 2015. Construction is underway on the main 10 acre site with first completions due in early 2019.”

The acquisition should open the site up and provide much greater access to White City tube station, creating a more holistic and joined up masterplan across the enlarged site. Planning documents submitted reveal buildings will rise to 28 storeys.

Imperial College London acquired the site in April 2013 for £14.5 million.
