St Modwen plans to become a net-zero-carbon company by 2040.
The developer and housebuilder is aiming to become operationally net zero by 2025, and by this point will cut site waste from St Modwen Homes’ operations by a third.
It also aims to achieve a net biodiversity gain of at least 10% on all development activity.
Chief finance and operations officer Rob Hudson said: “We have identified much of what we need to do to meet our operationally net-zero-carbon 2025 ambition, including looking at every aspect of our business operations, from travel to energy sources.
“We are also focusing on the way we design, build and operate and deconstruct our buildings, as well as sourcing materials and products that will help us reach this target.”
In addition, the company also announced will also invest 1% of its cash profits annually into education programmes to address the skills crisis within the construction industry.
