Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration, the joint venture formed between St Modwen and Stoke council, has been granted planning consent for the second phase of its 162ha (400 acres) mixed-use development at Trentham Lakes in north Staffordshire.
The JV is proposing up to 65,030 sq m (700,000 sq ft) of additional warehousing and distribution accommodation, over 300 homes, a district shopping centre and a public house at the £175m development.
Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration has already developed an 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) factory, HSBC call centre, health and fitness club, Holiday Inn Express hotel and Harvester restaurant on the first section of the site. St Modwen bought the first section, which is home to Stoke City FC’s £15m Britannia Stadium, at the end of 1996.
Mike Herbert, director of Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration and St Modwen Developments, said: “Trentham Lakes is proving that an excellent development site with a first-class location will attract companies to expand and locate in Stoke.”
Construction of the first two buildings is expected to begin in January 2001.
Agents for Trentham Lakes are Insignia Richard Ellis and Daniel & Hulme.
