St Modwen granted consent for Hednesford Gateway

Hednesford Gateway

St Modwen has won planning consent for its £50m Hednesford Gateway development in Cannock, Staffordshire.

The regeneration specialist has been granted approval by Cannock Chase council for the park element of the scheme.

The decision means that St Modwen can now start construction of the development later this month. It will begin by building bespoke premises for Hollywood Bingo Club and the Reserve Forces and Cadet’s Association.

The scheme comprises two sites. The first is located on Rugeley Road and the second lies on Victoria Street, adjacent to Hednesford Park and the railway line.

The first phase of the scheme also includes the creation of retail outlets facing Market Street and Rugeley Road.

Phase two of the scheme is the 9-acre redevelopment of the Victoria Street area of the town, to be anchored by a new 80,000 sq ft elevated Tesco store.

Tesco will be situated alongside several non-food retail units and a retail kiosk, which together will deliver 38,000 sq ft of commercial space.
