St Modwen Developments has submitted an outline planning application for the £150m regeneration of Bedford town centre.
The 1.2m sq ft Bedford Town Centre West scheme will add 385,000 sq ft of retail space to the town centre including a department store, a supermarket and 40 retail units.
The scheme will also includes 330 residential units, 96,000 sq ft of leisure space comprising restaurants, a cinema and a 130-bed hotel, a 1,100 space car park and a new bus station.
St Modwen, selected by the council as its preferred developer in February 2004, aims to begin work in 2009 with completion scheduled for 2011/2012.
Cushman & Wakefield and Kitchen Le Frenais Morgan are letting agents at the scheme.
