St Modwen has hired Danuta Gray as its new chair and non-executive director.
Gray, who will be chair designate from 1 October, will join the remuneration and nomination committees. She will work closely with current chair Bill Shannon over the coming month. Gray will formally take up the role when Shannon stands down at the end of the company’s next annual general meeting, scheduled for 29 March 2019.
The search process for a new chair was led by Ian Bull, St. Modwen’s senior independent director.
Gray is currently a non-executive director of Direct Line Insurance Group, senior independent director of Aldermore Group, a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee of Old Mutual and a non-executive director of the defence board at the Ministry of Defence.
Until 2012 she was chair of Telefónica O2 in Ireland, having previously been the chief executive for the Ireland branch from 2001 to 2010.
Mark Allan, chief executive at St Modwen, said: “Recruiting such a high calibre individual as our next chairman is a clear reflection of the quality and direction of our business. I am confident that St Modwen will benefit greatly from her broad knowledge and experience in the ongoing development and delivery of our strategy.”
