St Modwen has won planning permission from Lewisham Council for a £125m private rental scheme in Lee Green, SE12.
The 1960s Leegate shopping centre will be redeveloped into 229 flats, 193 of which will be for private rent and the remainder affordable housing.
The development will also include 45,000 sq ft of shops and leisure facilities, a 68,000 sq ft supermarket, a community centre and a pub.
It is St Modwen’s first purpose-built rental block in inner London, and its largest to date.
