St Modwen selected for Cheltenham’s £400m Cyber Central

Severn Trent has selected St Modwen as development partner for the £400m Cyber Central scheme at the Golden Valley in Cheltenham.

The landowner’s property arm Midlands Land Portfolio will work with St Modwen to develop 154 acres next to the UK’s intelligence headquarters GCHQ. The partners will also work with other landowners Cheltenham Borough Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council.

The regeneration aims to deliver 3,000 homes and 2m sq ft of cyber-related commercial space at the mixed-use tech hub. St Modwen expects to lodge a planning application this year.

Guy Gusterson, managing director of strategic land and regeneration at St Modwen, said: “The West Cheltenham development presents a unique opportunity to shape and deliver a new community next to a globally recognised hub for cyber security.”

Cheltenham Borough Council launched a hub for a developer partner last year and plans to invest £220m in housing on the site.
