St Modwen signs Screwfix for Trentham Lakes distribution hub

Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration, the joint venture between St Modwen and Stoke council, has signed home improvements retailer Screwfix for a 30-acre (12.1ha) slice of its Trentham Lakes site.

Screwfix, the UKs largest online supplier of DIY products, has secured consent from Staffordshire council to build around 410,000 sq ft (38,089 sq m) of distribution space at the 400-acre (162ha) scheme, after two failed attempts to secure permission to build at the neighbouring Midstaffs 14 site, near Stafford.

Richard Day, at joint letting agents for Trentham Lakes, Daniel & Hulme, said: “Stoke is becoming a key location for distributors, and it reflects a shift in the market and the way occupiers are looking at Stoke.”

Daniel & Hulme and Insignia Richard Ellis acted for Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration.
