St Modwen submits plans for Tamworth logistics park

St Modwen has submitted detailed plans for the first phase of its 35-acre site Tamworth logistics park in Staffordshire.

The application outlines the first phase of 90,000 sq ft, comprising three units from 12,375 sq ft to 49,000 sq ft. Outline planning consent for industrial, storage and distribution use for the full 677,000 sq ft site, east of junction 10 of the M42, was obtained in January.

Gregg Titley, development director at St Modwen, said: “Based on the 10-year average take-up for new warehouses in the West Midlands, the amount of space available will be gone within one year. The development at Tamworth Logistics Park will therefore deliver much needed accommodation in a strategic location on the M42 corridor for both distribution and manufacturing companies.”

Ranjit Gill, director at Savills, said: “Demand for well-located industrial/warehouse property remains strong with a limited supply of such accommodation being built across the region. We already have some good early interest.”

Subject to planning, works are due to start onsite during the first quarter of 2018. The application follows the recent launch of a 153,000 sq ft unit known as CP153 at St Modwen’s Centurion Park, adjacent to the Tamworth site, let to DFS and subsequently sold to Lime Development.

Savills and Colliers are joint agents for Tamworth Logistics Park.
