A meeting in Newcastle yesterday of 1,500 employees of Parsons Power Generation Systems backed their union’s strategy of pursuing initiatives aimed at making the company more attractive to potential buyers. Rolls-Royce, the aero-engines and industrial power group, put the Parson steam turbine plant up for sale last Friday, along with the International Combustion boilermaking factory in Derby.
