Staffordshire University London is to double the space it occupies at Delancey’s Here East innovation centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, E15.
The university will invest £3.5m in bringing its floorspace at the site to 31,133 sq ft, as part of an effort to improve academic facilities and increase the number of courses on offer to students ahead of the upcoming academic year in September.
The digital-focused Staffordshire University London, which is less than two years old, is already home to 135 students on courses ranging across e-sports, computer science, concept art for games and film, computer game design and cybersecurity.
The 1.2m sq ft Here East campus is home to around 4,500 academics and tech professionals, including those from University College London, Loughborough University London and Liverpool Media Academy.
Here East chief executive Gavin Poole said: “Despite the pandemic putting the future of universities in an uncertain spotlight, [Staffordshire University London] has undergone a significant period of growth over the past year, and we are thrilled to be able to accommodate its growing campus.
“We are proud that Here East is able to offer expansive and flexible spaces and attract a growing number of educational organisations seeking a different and innovative type of space.”
