St Modwen has been given the go-ahead to progress with its revised plans to create a housing-led mixed-use development to the west of Uttoxeter town centre, in east Staffordshire.
The company has won consent to build 700 homes on land between the A50 and Bramshall Road, which will also incorporate 25 acres of employment space, as well as shops, a school, sports and recreational facilities.
Revisions to the plans were made following a public consultation exercise and include repositioning of the site for the school and playing fields and other public realm concerns.
Mike Timmins, senior planning surveyor at St Modwen, said: “The project will help address the need for housing in the local area, as well as create opportunities for businesses.
“The site is in a location that is ideal for this type of mixed-use development, due to its proximity to local shops, community amenities and the transport network.”
St Modwen is now preparing detailed plans with a view to starting initial site works as soon as possible.
