Stanhope brought in to lead revamp of Woolgate Exchange

Stanhope has been appointed by the owner of Woolgate Exchange, EC2, to lead a revamp of the property.

The building, at 25 Basinghall Street, is owned by Taiwanese insurance firm Cathay Life and currently provides more than 330,000 sq ft of offices.

The firm’s plans to revamp the building reportedly spurred its tenants to look for new premises.

Nasdaq, which occupied just over 30,000 sq ft at Woolgate Exchange, has agreed a move to 22 Bishopsgate where it will occupy 25,000 sq ft on the 18th floor on a 10-year lease, while law firm Sidley Austin found a new home at Nuveen’s 70 St Mary Axe, EC3, where it now occupies 100,000 sq ft.

Knight Frank, which occupied around 6,000 sq ft in  Woolgate Exchange, has also now set up its new city office at Forum St Paul’s, 33 Gutter Lane, EC2.

Cathay Life acquired Woolgate Exchange in 2014, paying Texas Pacific Group and Cheyene Capital around £320m.
