Stanhope named Crawley partner

Stanhope has been confirmed as development partner for the retail-led regeneration of Crawley town centre north.

Crawley borough council has confirmed the appointment three weeks after its cabinet and cross-party members’ selection panel recommended the developer as preferred partner.

Stanhope will now work with the council to develop its ideas for the site and a planning application is expected in summer 2013.

Martyn Chase, director at Stanhope, said: “We are very pleased to be selected as development partner for town centre north. This project is Crawley’s opportunity for a major improvement of the retail and leisure offer to attract many more customers and much new business.”

Claire Denman, cabinet member for planning and economic development, added: “Stanhope impressed us with its vision and desire to work with existing businesses, the local community and the public sector to improve existing areas such as Queens Square, The Broadway and Crawley Station.”
