Starling Bank expands London headquarters

Starling Bank has taken more space at its east London headquarters.

The digital bank has sublet an additional 12,211 sq ft of office space in the London Fruit & Wool Exchange at 1 Duval Square, E1, from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

It will occupy part of the first floor on a near-six-year lease at £68.50 per sq ft.

Starling Bank already occupies 18,515 sq ft on the fifth floor of the building on a lease for seven years and three months. It signed a deal to take that space in June 2022.

A spokesperson for Starling Bank told EG: “Starling Bank continues to grow, creating jobs that support the expansion of the bank in the UK. We are taking on more office space in our London HQ in 2024 to support this, which follows the opening of our new northern base in Manchester this year.”

In March this year, the bank signed a deal to occupy 14,000 sq ft of space in Barings’ Landmark office building in St Peter’s Square, Manchester, on a 10-year lease. The deal, which marked Starling’s fourth location in the UK and its first in Manchester, came amid its wider plans to create 1,000 new jobs in the city to support its growth ambitions.

CBRE and Colliers acted for Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
