Stars including actors Dan Stevens, David Suchet and John Sessions joined London’s property set at the 2014 Story of Christmas Appeal at St George’s Church, Hanover Square, W1, in December.
Celebrities Rosalind Ayers, Ian Hislop, Martin Jarvis, David Nicholls and Ellie Nunn were also in attendance to give readings at the capital’s charity Christmas event, supported by Estates Gazette.
British Land’s Chris Grigg, Cushman & Wakefield’s Digby Flower and JLL’s Guy Grainger were among 600 of the industry’s biggest names at the service, where the Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and the Band & Fanfare Trumpeters of the Welsh Guards performed carols. Tenor Alexander Sprague took to the stage to perform O Holy Night.
A reception and live and silent charity auctions were held at the Dorchester hotel, W1, after the event to raise money for projects to support homeless and disadvantaged people.
Auctioneer Duncan Moir conducted the live auction and £425,000 was raised through donations, sponsorship and auction proceeds at the 17 December event.
The supported charities are: Beyond Autism (in association with Wooden Spoon); The Children’s Trust; Kairos Community Trust: The Eugenia Road Project (in association with CRASH); St Mungo’s Broadway: Hilldrop Road Hostel; Transform Housing & Support: Camperdown Project; and XLP: XL-R8 Community Bus Project.
