Starwood Hotels & Resorts has put the Westin Turnberry resort, in Ayrshire, up for sale.
The US hospitality company is looking to secure an outside investor to buy the 219-room Scottish golfing resort and fund a multimillion-pound development programme. The resort has 300 acres of undeveloped land.
Starwood has appointed Jones Land LaSalle Hotels to handle the process. Starwood says a deal is subject to it being retained to manage the resort. It is thought to be willing to retain a minority stake.
