Staycity lodges plans for flagship London hotel

Hotel operator Staycity has submitted plans to the Newham Council for a flagship hotel development in Stratford, EC1.

Staycity acquired the site in 2022 for a flagship hotel.

At the time of purchase, the site had an expired planning consent for a youth hostel.

Under the new proposals, Staycity is seeking permission to build a 21-storey hotel (plus plant level) with no basement.

Back-of-house operations are planned across the ground, first and second floors, with 250 hotel rooms to be located from the third floor up to the 21st.

The total proposed floorspace is approximately 114,000 sq ft, including around 3,000 sq ft for a bar, café/restaurant and co-working area.

Staycity currently operates more than 30 hotels across 20 cities in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy.

The company has further openings planned in London, Munich, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Porto, Cambridge and Nuremberg, among others. By 2028, it expects to operate more than 15,000 rooms across Europe.
