Stockley windfall

Apple Computer (UK) are joining other hi-tech occupants at Stockley Park, the 350-acre scheme near Heathrow Airport.

They are taking a 50,000-sq ft building at 4 Roundwood Avenue, with an option on neighbouring land for a further 40,000-60,000 sq ft. The space will house administration as well as training functions, plus product development operations.

Apple are taking a 25-year lease on the building, but the architects were chosen jointly by tenant and developer, and it has been designed to a style chosen by Apple. Construction starts in March and it will be ready for fitting-out in September.

The rents being agreed on Stockley Park are a closely guarded secret, but asking rents on earlier chunks of developer-specified space were £14.50. Jones Lang Wootton, Grant & Partners and Morgan Grenfell Laurie are the letting agents for the scheme, which is a joint venture between Mountleigh, the Universities Superannuation Scheme and Hillingdon council.

Knight Frank & Rutley acted for Apple.
