Stockport council has launched a search for a developer to partner it on the mixed-use Grand Central project in the Greater Manchester town.
Developers have been invited to apply to be considered to take on the regeneration project, which the council hopes will create £100m of private investment.
The council bought the 76,000 sq ft leisure complex in January after Targetfollow, which planned to redevelop the site, went into administration last October. It has appointed DTZ to market the site.
Dave Goddard, leader of Stockport council, said: “Since we took the bold and decisive decision to buy Grand Central, we have been overwhelmed with interest from developers.
“Through buying the site, we have shown potential investors that we mean business where regeneration is concerned. I am committed to making Stockport the best it can be, ultimately boosting the economy and creating jobs for local people, and this site is central to that plan.”
