Urban Regeneration Company (URC) Tees Valley Regeneration has been granted planning consent for the £300m regeneration of Stockton’s riverbank.
The North Shore scheme, designed by architect Benoy, forms a key element of the Stockton Middlesborough Initiative.
The 56-acre brownfield site lies adjacent to the town centre and opposite Teesdale Business Park.
The development comprises:

· · 650,000 sq ft of offices
· · 25,000 sq ft of leisure
· · a 100-bedroom hotel
· · cafès and restaurants
The North Shore development will also benefit from a pedestrian/cycle bridge linking the scheme to the Thornby side of the river.
Work on the scheme is expected to start in summer 2006 with completion scheduled for 2014.
Tees Valley Regeneration comprises English Partnerships, One NorthEast and the five Tees Valley local authorities – Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Darlington & Redcar and Cleveland.
