Stoke-on-Trent City Council has confirmed that Darren Jones has quit his role as development director following the departure of council director of regeneration Tom Macartney.
As tipped on EGi (9 August 2010), Jones, who was also a senior figure at the North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership and worked closely with Macartney, will move to Oldham Council where he has joined as assistant executive director for strategic projects and investment.
He starts the new role at the end of September.
Jones said: “It has been a privilege to be involved in advancing our important transformational projects like the University Quarter, Central Business District and the East West shopping precinct.”
The announcement follows news earlier this month that Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s regeneration director and managing director of the North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership, Tom Macartney, is to leave the council in September.
Both moves are believed to be prompted by the council’s decision to replace renewal body NSRP with a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
The council had said that forming an LEP rather than continuing with the current NSRP partnership will provide the area with “more opportunities for future funding.”
