Stonebridge Boxing Club wins planning for new home

Stonebridge Boxing Club, a charity with more than 650 members, has been granted permission by the London Borough of Brent for a new building on the site of the former King Edward VII Park pavilion.

The charity was provided with pro bono planning support from Regal throughout the process.

The approved development will replace an unused, dilapidated structure with a modern facility encompassing a new gym and sporting areas, physio rooms, office space, changing facilities, and a café open to the public.

For the past year, Regal has worked in partnership with Stonebridge Boxing Club, and has provided premises on High Road, Wembley, and now space on Watkin Road in Wembley Park, ensuring that the boxing club could continue to operate.

By providing a dedicated space for youth and community activities, the new facility aims to keep young people off the streets, offering them a positive and structured environment for physical activity and personal development.

The new facility will provide a safe, welcoming environment where residents can engage in sports and fitness activities, thereby reducing the risk of youth involvement in gang activities and serious crime.

Aamir Ali, founder and director of Stonebridge Boxing Club said: “The club has moved locations five times in the last few years, so to finally have confirmation of our new permanent home is a dream come true – and we would not have been able to achieve this without Regal’s help and support.

“Stonebridge Boxing Club’s membership reflects Brent in all its diversity, and we proudly open our doors to people from all backgrounds. We provide a structured, disciplined environment in which to learn, train and practice, with a supportive, positive and respectful ethos.”

Paul Eden, co-founder of Regal, added: “We have partnered with Stonebridge Boxing Club for the last two years, not only providing pro bono support and premises but also working with the many young people who come through the doors each day. The boxing club provides an incredible, supportive environment for the hundreds of people of all ages who attend each week, encouraging physical and mental wellness alongside a strong sense of community.”
