Story of Christmas appeal raises £671,000

The annual Story of Christmas appeal at St George’s church on Hanover Square, W1, raised a whopping £671,000 through generous donations from the real estate sector.

The star-studded carol service – which kicks off the Christmas countdown – featured readings from Brian Blessed, Clare Balding, Fay Ripley, Jim Carter, Sir Michael Palin and many more.

Marc Corbett-Weaver, artistic director and chief executive of the Story of Christmas, said: “We are thrilled the Story of Christmas’s 42nd event in December raised more than £671,000.

“We are supporting nine capital projects benefitting disadvantaged children and the homeless – and are very grateful to the many corporate supporters and individuals who donated so generously.”

The carol service is followed by a champagne reception and charity auction, this year held at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel.
