The London Legacy Development Corporation has approved plans for one of the capital’s tallest student flats tower.

Alumno Developments ?has secured consent for a ?£45m, 26-storey block at ?206-214 Stratford High Street, E15.

Construction of the MJP Architects-designed 431-bed scheme will begin in the summer, with completion expected for 2016.

Alumno managing director David Campbell said he expected the scheme to remain one of London’s tallest student tower for many years as a result of pressure from some of the capital’s councils to prioritise sites for other uses, and inhibit student development through high community infrastructure levy rates.

GL Hearn advised on planning.
