Strettons raised £7.6m at its 6 February sale, selling 71% of the properties on offer.
The highest price achieved on the day was £900,000, shared by two properties at either end of the country and both £100,000 above their guide prices.
In Sutton, Surrey, Strettons sold a freehold vacant former care home, and in Liverpool it sold a large freehold three-story block of six flats with planning permission for 13 homes.
Other notable sales included a pair of flats in Haringey, N4, which sold for £486,000 against a guide of £385,000, and two flats in Clapton, E5, which sold for £700,000 against a guide of £650,000-plus.
A block of eight flats in Clacton, Essex, producing £58,500 pa, sold for £695,000, reflecting a gross yield of 8.4%.
A variety of plots and advertising sites offered on behalf of JCDecaux also performed well, fetching prices from £16,000 to £157,000. The highest price achieved was for a site in Southampton, Hampshire, part let for a sub-station and guided at £55,000-£60,000.
Philip Waterfield, Strettons’ auctions director, said: “I am pleased to begin our 2019 auction calendar and on balance the auction was a reasonable sale which reflected the nervousness resulting from the wider economic and political environment combined with the impact of the squeeze on buy-to-let landlords.”
