Strettons’ most recent sale achieved a 76% success rate – its highest rate so far this year, up from its 63% result in March and a 75% result in February.
In total, the May sale raised £8.4m, selling 28 of 37 lots offered.
The top lot of the day was a freehold residential investment comprising a two-storey semi-detached house in Harrow, Hertfordshire that is being used as a house in multiple occupation and has planning permission for three flats on the 9,000 sq ft site.
It was bought by a private individual for £690,000.
Auctioneer Philip Waterfield said: “Now the uncertainties of an election have calmed, we can hopefully settle down to a more stable property market.
“This should also encourage those who have been fortunate enough to draw down a tax-free lump sum from their pension to concentrate on finding a suitable property investment.”
The auction took place on 18 May at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2.
