The building industry is facing a wave of unofficial disputes.Industrial action could affect projects as diverse as the JubileeLine extension, the Millennium project at Greenwich, the RoyalOpera House renovation and the Newbury bypass.
The threat stems from the breakdown of pay talks between construction industry employers and unions. Talks broke downafter unions rejected a three-year pay offer to increase hourlycraft rates from the present £4.58 to £6.05.
