Strong bidding at Bond Wolfe’s first sale of the year

Bond Wolfe saw the hammer come down at four times the guide price for certain properties in its first auction of 2022, with total sales of £17.7m.

A three-bedroom, mid-terrace house on Charles Road in Small Heath, Birmingham (lot 112), pictured, sold for £200,000, from a guide price of £50,000+. And a freehold commercial and residential property on Pershore Road in the up-and-coming trendy suburb of Stirchley (lot 11) sold for £190,000, also from a guide price of £50,000+.

The auctioneer sold 132 of the 146 lots offered at the 9 February live-streamed sale, recording an overall success rate of 90%.

Bond Wolfe chief executive Gurpreet Bassi said: “The property market remains buoyant, and the outlook is looking even more positive with further easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Our first auction of the year proved there is phenomenal buyer interest for property up and down the UK.”

Another lot that raised competitive bids was a freehold plot of land where the Rising Sun pub used to be located on Barton Street in West Bromwich (lot 7), which was sold on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council for £192,000, from a guide price of £50,000+.

In Wolverhampton, a four-bedroom, semi-detached house on Tettenhall Road (lot 92) sold for £235,000, from a guide price of £170,000+, while in Staffordshire, a former health centre on Hudson Drive in Burntwood (lot 29) sold for £490,000, from a guide price of £400,000+.

Back in Birmingham, other strong sales included three self-contained flats in an end-of-terrace property on Abbotsford Road in Sparkbrook (lot 18), which sold for nearly three times the £100,000+ guide price at £296,000, and freehold retail premises on Sutton New Road in Erdington (lot 1), which were sold on behalf of Birmingham City Council for £387,000, from a guide price of £200,000+.

Bond Wolfe’s next auction will take place on 30 March.
