Stronger sales for Taylor Wimpey

pounds_ascending_graph.jpegHouse builder Taylor Wimpey’s latest trading update shows an average private net reservation rate of 0.76 sales per outlet per week from 1 January to today.

The house builder operates from 302 outlets.

The update cites a more competitive mortgage market and an increasingly secure job market as factors behind the improving sales.

The average price of homes in the private order book at point of sale has increased by 14% from the same period last year to around £282,900. The 11% cancellation rate is also low.

Some 8,200 homes are on Taylor Wimpey’s order book, an increase of 24% from the figure the end of 2014.

The update states that the general election has not significantly affected its operations.

Pete Redfern, chief executive of Taylor Wimpey, said: “We remain focused on progressing our sites through the planning system to enable us to start on site as soon as possible and remain on track to deliver good progress towards all of our medium-term targets in 2015.”
