Strutt & Parker pays tribute to Patrick Bailey

Strutt & Parker have issued a tribute to Patrick Bailey, the company’s head of residential, who died last week.

Bailey and a friend, Highland laird David Balgonie, were caught in an avalanche while skiing in the Swiss resort of Bruson, near Verbier.

The 54 year old, who officially joined the agency in 1980, was partner in charge of Newbury & Sloane St.

Strutt & Parker senior partner Anthony Cane wrote the tribute which appears on the firm’s website.

Cane said: “Always bubbling, never lost for a word of encouragement or a friendly comment – not for Patrick “two ears and one mouth” listen and speak in those proportions!

“My earliest memories go back to his arrival at Hill Street in 1979, recommended to me by John Anderson for work experience whilst he was at Cirencester.

“Patrick tried Lewes briefly but consultancy was never going to be his metier.

“So determined was he to “get on” that he did the 3 year course in 2 years – others of us had been very happy with 3 years!

“As soon as he left Cirencester he returned to Hill Street in 1980 to work with Dennis Burn in the Country House Department which was to be his great love for the rest of his time to Strutt & Parker.
