McAleer & Rushe is planning a redevelopment of Newcastle’s Newgate Centre, submitting a new raft of plans to the city council after ditching the plans three years ago.
The new proposals include a 705-bed student accommodation block, a 250-bed hotel, 70,000 sq ft of retail space and a 39,500 sq ft office block.
McAleer & Rushe bought the site in 2006, planning a £100m scheme in 2009 and gaining consent in 2011. That plan consisted of 575 hotel rooms and 55,000 sq ft of office accommodation.
