Developer Gladedale is looking to tear up consented residential plans in East Sussex in favour of a student accommodation scheme.
Proposals for a 166-bed student housing development on the Station Plaza site in Hastings are being discussed by the Laing and Gladedale (Hastings) joint venture.
Two properties with 23 flats would also be part of the proposals.
The jv has consent for a 103-flat scheme. However, a spokesman for Gladedale said: “Due to the continuing slump in the residential apartment market, the companies are considering making an amendment to the planning permission.”
Subject to plans being lodged and approved this year, the development would complete in summer 2014.
