The Sultan of Brunei is rumoured to head the list of bidders for the Hyde Park Hotel, Knightbridge, London, SW1, which has been put up for sale by the Granada Group. He is thought to have offered a hefty £90m for the five star hotel, valuing each bedroom at £487,000.
The property is one of 18 of the Exclusive Hotels chain acquired through Granada’s hostile acquisition of Forte in January. Last year it made an operating profit of £5.5m. The successful bidder is likely to decided next January.
The Sultan of Brunei also owns The Dorchester, W1, and the Bel Air, in Beverley Hills, Los Angeles.
